Papa John Blaming NFL Protests for Falling Sales

During a Wednesday call with analysts, pizza chain Papa John's blamed NFL national anthem protests for its falling sales. CEO John Schnatter said, "The NFL has hurt us. And more importantly, by not resolving the current debacle to the players and owners satisfaction, NFL leadership has hurt Papa John’s shareholders.” Referring to the divisive nature of the ongoing player protests, Schnatter said of the NFL, "This should have been nipped in the bud a year and a half ago." Shares for the pizza chain reportedly closed down almost $6 each on Wednesday, minus 8.5 percent a day before.
