When Donald Trump attacks the media, it may "help" smaller news outlets. Numbers show that Trump did well in counties with less news subscribers, but not as well when there were more. There is a strong connection between low subscription rates and Trump’s victory in the 2016 election. So less local media sources and where Trump's message got through may have heavily influenced the election. An analysis by POLITICO said Trump did worse in places where the media could fact-check his claims.
