UPI reports about 13% of adults over 50 in Ireland are deficient in folate and vitamin B12. That's higher than in the U.S., and some other countries, where folic acid fortification is mandatory. Trinity College Dublin researchers found that one in eight older adults are deficient in Vitamin B12. One in seven aren't getting enough folate-- a natural vitamin linked to the dietary supplement folic acid.
