Beijing said Wednesday it can protect its own interests--and has the means to do so. Reuters reports China has slapped additional tariffs of 25% on $16 billion worth of U.S. fuel and steel imports. It was retaliation against U.S. plans to levy 25% more in tariffs on $16 billion of Chinese goods. So far, China has now either imposed or proposed tariffs on $110 billion of U.S. goods. Big-ticket U.S. items that are still not on any list are crude oil and large aircraft. China has no choice but to fight back. State newspaper China Daily
