CNN reports that Melania Trump's parents became United States citizens on Thursday. The first lady's parents, Viktor and Amalija Knavs, are from Slovenia. They've lived in the U.S. with green cards and have been spotted in Washington since Donald Trump became president. Their immigration attorney, Michael Wildes did not reveal how they got green cards, CNN explains have raised some eyebrows. CNN adds, "...raising the prospect they were sponsored by Melania Trump or another family member based on what Trump has called 'chain migration' or family-based migration." Although the first lady's office declined to comment, Wildes calls it a "wonderful day for their family." Trump has harshly criticized family-based migration and the administration has adopted a "no-tolerance" immigration policy. Wildes adds, "I can't comment on the President's politics when it comes to my clients but I have stood up against the President's immigration policies personally."
