Prosecutors asked in a memo for Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán to receive life in prison. The memo read: "The overwhelming evidence at trial showed that the defendant was a ruthless and bloodthirsty leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.” According to CNN, El Chapo was found guilty of 10 federal criminal counts. These include engaging in a criminal enterprise, conspiracy to launder narcotics, among more. Prosecutors also asked that Guzmán pay a criminal forfeiture of about $12.7 billion to the U.S. government.
