Taylor Swift won Video of the Year for her song “You Need To Calm Down” at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards. During her speech, she used her platform to publicly denounced anti-LGBTQ discrimination. She then asked her fans to support an anti-discrimination bill called the Equality Act.
